Job description
As a Cable Routing Engineer, you'll design, develop and review the cable routing network across the HPC project, ensuring compliance with UK cabling standard and nuclear regulations. You'll produce cable routing deliverables and undertake routing studies for designated nuclear island buildings, using optimised in-house routing software to support efficient and compliant design delivery.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Cable Routing Engineer will include:
- Produce cable routing reports that ensure accurate cable paths and lengths, fully compliant with UK routing rules and project requirements (including safety, segregation, and lifetime margins).
- Work closely with the Layout team to assess tray fill rates, resolve design constraints, and support 3D model quality, civil openings, and cable tray design.
- Carry out feasibility and impact assessments for design changes affecting routing, including risk assessment and mitigation planning.
- Provide user feedback and support for routing software, including performance improvement, troubleshooting, and beta testing.
- Report routing progress and updates through weekly coordination meetings and to layout teams and management.
- Deliver training and guidance on cable routing software, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements
Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in layout engineering
- Experience with cable routing, cable tray systems, and routing reports
- Knowledge of RCC-E electrical regulations and relevant standards (NFC 15-100, NF C 13-200, BS 7671, IEC 60909)
- Understanding of the nuclear industry through education or professional experience
- Familiarity with quality processes used in industrial and nuclear projects
- Proficient in 3D modelling and CAD tools such as PDMS/E3D, Navisworks, and AutoCAD
- Reside locally to Bristol or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
