Job description

The Junior ServiceNow Developer will support the design, development, and testing of ServiceNow CMS and Service Portal solutions within a regulated retail environment. The role is delivery-focused, working under the guidance of senior developers and architects, and adhering to established change and governance frameworks., ServiceNow Development

  • Develop and configure ServiceNow CMS and Service Portal components in line with user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Build and maintain front-end components using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ServiceNow widgets.
  • Follow ServiceNow best practices, coding standards, and Post Office development guidelines.
  • Support enhancements across related ServiceNow modules as required.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Perform unit testing for all developed components.
  • Contribute to automated testing where applicable (ATF experience desirable).
  • Participate in peer code reviews and ensure code passes quality gates prior to promotion.

Integration Support

  • Assist with the development and testing of integrations between CMS and other ServiceNow modules or external systems.
  • Support promotion of code across environments (DEV, TEST, PROD) following change controls.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

  • Produce clear technical documentation for developed solutions.
  • Support knowledge transfer activities to BAU and support teams to ensure ongoing maintainability.

Governance & Compliance

  • Complete mandatory Post Office compliance training within required timescales.
  • Complete Change Excellence Framework training where applicable.
  • Adhere to the Post Office change methodology throughout the engagement.

Technical Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience with ServiceNow development, particularly Service Portal or CMS
  • Strong HTML, CSS, JavaScript skills
  • Understanding of web accessibility and responsive design
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery and user story-based development
  • Ability to follow defined development standards and processes

Desirable

  • ServiceNow ATF (Automated Test Framework)
  • Experience supporting integrations (REST APIs, data sources)
  • Exposure to regulated or enterprise-scale environments

Key Deliverables & Success Measures

  • High-quality ServiceNow code that meets acceptance criteria
  • Unit-tested components passing peer review and quality gates
  • Documented solutions successfully handed over to BAU
  • Compliance with all mandatory training and change governance
