This role will aim to enhance the customer experience through the design, develo...More..., This role will aim to enhance the customer experience through the design, development, measurement and balance of customer attributes for automotive vehicles.

The D&R PAT leader role is to ensure all customer expectations for vehicle Durability and Robustness of client vehicles are met or exceeded. This is achieved through attribute target setting and verification sign-off using both virtual and physical test methods.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Ensure all targets cascaded and accepted within all relevant Engineering teams
  • Develop integration and Design Verification (DV) plans to ensure accumulating evidence through vehicle programme to ensure delivery of vehicle sign-off on-time to requirements
  • Ensure delivery and reporting of results of all test activities to agreed DV plan
  • Raise clear and concise technical issue reports within 48 hours of identifications
  • Complete all sign-off documentation for agreed gateways

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of all attribute requirement targets by gateway
  • Support the Programme Attribute Team to ensure all technical issues are identified and resolved
  • Detailed strategy and delivery planning for all attribute covering CAR, RLD, rig and driven DV activities with status reporting including road load data, analysis and load cascade
  • Working with system and component areas to define and maintain cascaded target requirements in support of overall vehicle level targets
  • Work with component engineers and suppliers are required to drive implementation and resolution of all engineering solutions
  • Deliver technical recommendations and reports
  • Support and maintain the Automated Issues Management System (AIMS) and track these to successful resolution
  • Work on tasks to ensure all lessons learnt from the current vehicle are captured and fed back to the Programme Attribute Team and progressed as necessary
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their Line Manager in connection with their job as may be requested., The purpose of this role is to coordinate the development, testing and verification of new systems and components or commodities into the Cockpit system. The role requires the individual to use the client systems to set up and manage the test plan progression through to sign-off.

The initial deployment will be within the off-cycle development team supporting new technology development & running change verification, requirement updates and generic design verification plan (DVP) process development.

Key Performance Indicators

  • To successfully deliver final engineering sign-off of new cockpit content to programme gateway timing
  • To set up, monitor, track and report out development progression via RMDV interface

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Checking all appropriate client standards are met through-out design maturation
  • Responsible for managing the test and development plan for several new cockpit programmes
  • Managing RMDV (Client management tracking system) deck for respective programmes, setting and cascading targets to relevant areas.
  • Creating a detailed test timing plan.
  • Creating and updating Bill of Materials for test parts
  • Obtaining quotes from suppliers and test houses to complete plan and liaising with value for money team to gain approval.
  • Preparing parts for testing, evaluating results, resolving any problems arising, writing reports and filing back to RMDV.
  • Liaising with the responsible supplier teams to ensure test plan is on track.
  • Involved in managing the departments test & development test budget. Keep all Module documentation up to date including meeting minutes.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

  • Test facility / workshop teams, The candidate will join the Vehicle Safety Test Laboratories test team at Gaydon to conduct physical destructive testing on components, systems and vehicles to meet Passive Safety targets. Working closely with customers, the data is used to progress engineering development, or to be used for compliance evidence by witness authorities and others. With the ability to translate regulation and requirement test protocols, and using a variety of modern test equipment, instrumentation and data acquisition systems, the candidate will manage the test through to completion and produce a test report on time. Initially on "days", the role may require being on shifts later in the year (earlies and lates)., The BoM Engineering team within Product Information is responsible for creating, configuring, maintaining and interrograting the Bill of Material in the early phases of programmes. The team support Engineering within each Centre of Competence (CoC), building relationships with, and guiding Engineers through the BoM creation and management process. The team also perform a number of quality checks, from commodity audits to large scale validation events, to ensure completeness and accuracy of those BoMs for a number of gateways within Programme lifecycles. The BoM Engineering team work on all current and future vehicle lines, across both brands and all manufacturing facilities globally.

In this role you will be responsible for managing set up and changes to Bills of Material, challenging inputs where appropriate and seeking out information required from key stakeholders to deliver a coherent and quality Bill of Material for client both in legacy and future systems., In this role you will work within the Cross Functional Test Facilities across various Midlands sites (Coventry, Warwickshire), supporting Engineering Operations activities. The purpose of the role is to ensure the safe, smooth, efficient and effective operation of the Engineering Operations Test Facilities used for Product Development. You will be required to demonstrate safe working practices throughout in line with the Company's 'Destination Zero' policies and you will understand the responsibility you owe to yourself and to others in the workplace.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Broad knowledge and demonstrable experience of vehicle technologies within the automotive sector
  • Understanding of Durability & Strength principles with a knowledge of automotive data collection and analysis
  • Knowledge of problem-solving principles
  • Understanding of system engineering principles and delivery

Desirable

  • Project management of complex engineering test activities
  • Microsoft package elements (e.g. PowerPoint and Excel)
  • CAD visualisation systems (e.g. VisMockUp)
  • Knowledge of whole vehicle engineering and cross-functional experience.

Education:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred, Essential:
  • Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred
  • A good understanding of the issue management systems, CAD systems and Design Verification processes are required
  • An understanding of Engineering Standards and Test Procedures
  • Previous experience organising or supervising automotive test preparation and completion to defined procedures.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience with Cockpit or automotive interior component design verification.
  • Previous experience within engineering or programme planning departments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
  • A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
  • Knowledge of virtual verification methods (geometrical and CAE computer aided engineering) and reviewing results.

Education:

  • Degree qualified (engineering or related) or equivalent experience preferred, Experience of physical testing in a laboratory. Working knowledge of passive safety regulations and requirements, Inc. FMVSS and ECE. Working knowledge of instrumentation and data acquisition systems. E.g. force, displacement, acceleration.

Education: Degree educated desired but not essential, Must have a good working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.

  • Technical expertise and experience of test facilities and control systems for AVL, ABB and Horiba.

  • Experience with IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 standards and requirements.
  • Problem solving Qualification.
  • Knowledge of company Health and Safety requirements, Risk Assessments, COSHH and SDS.
  • Knowledge of fluid controls, Ventilation systems, Chilled fluids.

Experience Required:

  • Prior Automotive facilities engineering experience related to a test environment
  • A Level 4 qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline or relevant experience.
  • Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent in English, Maths and Science
  • Proven experience and understanding of facilities, processes, equipment and leading technologies.
  • Experienced in problem solving control systems.
  • Clear and confident communicator both orally and in writing
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Ability to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style
  • Ability to follow written and spoken instruction and interface well with customers
  • Ability to work quickly and pay attention to detail
