Job description
- Plan, set up, and execute hands-on validation and compliance tests on Tesla charging products in our Freiburg laboratory.
- Prepare and configure charging systems for external testing and provide on-site technical support at notified bodies and third-party labs.
- Conduct in-field testing and commissioning at customer or pilot sites to validate performance, safety, and interoperability, sometimes in coordination with local authorities or utility partners.
- Execute specialized test campaigns covering areas such as electrical safety, metrology (calibration/billing accuracy), Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, and cybersecurity protocols.
- Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues discovered during testing, collaborating with design engineers to find solutions.
- Develop detailed test plans, meticulously document test procedures and results, and author comprehensive technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Clearly communicate test outcomes, key findings, and project status to engineering and management teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a product compliance, regulatory, or homologation role.
- Proven hands-on experience in a test engineering role within a laboratory or field environment, preferably with power electronics, EV charging, or related systems.
- Proficiency with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, multimeters, data acquisition systems).
- Experience in creating test plans, executing test procedures, and writing clear, concise technical reports.
- Familiarity with compliance and validation testing in one or more of the following areas: electrical safety (LVD), EMC, metrology, V2X, or cybersecurity.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a meticulous, detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage testing projects with minimal supervision, both in the lab and in the field.
- Willingness to travel to external test labs and field sites as required.
