Security Specialist

As our Security Specialist, you will strengthen Bitvavo's Security Detection and Response (SDR) capability by conducting investigations, refining detections, and supporting the enhancement of data, network, and web security controls. You will serve as a key escalation point for complex incidents and contribute to improving the team's overall detection and response maturity. What You'll Be Doing

• Threat Monitoring & Investigation: Investigate escalated alerts, identify root causes, and coordinate follow-up actions.
• Detection Tuning: Refine detection logic, dashboards, and alerts to improve coverage and reduce noise.
• Data & Network Security: Support the management of data protection measures and monitoring of network and web defences.
• Incident Response: Assist in containment, remediation, and documentation of security incidents.
• Operational Improvement: Contribute to the optimisation of security processes, integrations, and playbooks.
• Knowledge Sharing: Maintain documentation and support training for new or updated operational procedures.

• 5+ years of experience in detection and response, threat analysis, or incident handling.
• Good understanding of monitoring tools, detection logic, and investigation methodologies.
• Exposure to data security, endpoint protection, and network defence concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Relevant certifications (Security+, GSEC, GCIA) are a plus.
• Effective communicator with strong documentation and collaboration skills.
