Technical Lead Backup & Storage Systems

• Lead architecture and design of a new ESA backup & storage system
• Install, configure, and integrate enterprise backup solutions across Linux and Windows platforms
• Configure networking, security, and system hardening
• Lead troubleshooting, acceptance testing, and technical implementation
• Produce high-quality technical documentation (HLD/LLD, procedures, test plans)
• Act as the main technical authority and guide the engineering team

Project Overview

• Implementation of a new enterprise backup system for ESA (SCI-S Program)
• Role covers architecture, engineering, security, documentation, and integration
• Requires collaboration with ESA technical teams during reviews and milestones

• Several years of experience in backup & storage engineering
• Deep expertise with Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, or similar enterprise solutions
• Strong Linux & Windows integration skills
• Networking expertise (VLANs, routing, firewalls)
• Experience with system hardening, encryption, security best practices
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
• Fluent English is mandatory

Tools & Methodologies

• Enterprise backup tools (Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup)
• Linux / Windows administration
• VMware / Hyper-V (preferred)
• Bash, PowerShell, Python (preferred)
• ISO 27001 or similar security frameworks
• Documentation tools: Confluence, Visio, Markdown

• Remote-first
• Occasional travel to ESA/ESAC Madrid required
