Job description
- Model Development & Validation
- Design, implement, and validate machine learning and statistical models for cardiovascular risk prediction, disease progression, and personalized monitoring.
- Apply state-of-the-art methods for time-series analysis, survival analysis, and multi-modal data fusion.
- Clinical & Translational Research
- Work with clinical partners to design studies, analyze outcomes, and identify novel biomarkers.
- Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and regulatory submissions.
- Data Infrastructure & Strategy
- Shape the data architecture and pipelines for large-scale wearable and clinical datasets.
- Ensure reproducibility, robustness, and compliance with MDR/GDPR standards.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor junior data scientists and interns.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and clinical teams to integrate data-driven insights into product development.
- Lead external collaborations with hospitals, RTOs, and research consortia +, * Opportunity to evolve into the Chief Data Scientist role, leading AIKON's data science vision and strategy.
- Build and manage a team of data scientists and AI researchers.
- Shape the direction of AI-driven cardiovascular monitoring in Europe and beyond.

Requirements
- PhD (or equivalent experience) in Medical Informatics, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong expertise in machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis (Python, R).
- Experience with biomedical data (ECG, PPG, BioZ, imaging, omics, or similar).
- Solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus).
