Job description

A highly talented Lead Data Engineer is sought by a prestigious Financial Services organisation. This is a deeply technical role at its core, requiring candidates who have built and evolved enterprise-scale data platforms and data models.

You must bring strong hands-on experience as a data engineer or equivalent and be comfortable operating directly in modern cloud data platforms while influencing senior stakeholders. You will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering a shared enterprise data model spanning multiple business divisions and geographies. This role sits at the intersection of engineering execution and commercial impact; you will be expected to both design the solution and help build it.

You will help guide the integration of data across multiple divisions and geographies, driving consistency, clarity, and long-term value from complex and often fragmented data landscapes., * Lead the hands-on design and evolution of a shared enterprise data model across wealth and asset management divisions

  • Architect and guide the integration of data from multiple source systems into a unified, scalable platform
  • Work closely with regional data and AI leads globally to ensure local engineering decisions align with global architecture standards
  • Partner with senior business stakeholders to define data concepts, entities, and metrics, resolving ambiguity through technical clarity
  • Perform deep technical gap analysis of existing data models, pipelines, and platform capabilities
  • Propose initial data model structures and iterate them collaboratively through real implementation
  • Contribute hands-on to data engineering work where required - this role retains a strong technical component
  • Build and evolve high-quality data products that directly support reporting, analytics, and strategic decision-making

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or equivalent roles
  • A strong hands-on background building modern data platforms - not just overseeing them
  • Proven experience designing and evolving enterprise-wide data models
  • Demonstrable ability to reconcile and integrate data from multiple disparate systems
  • Deep familiarity with modern cloud data architectures and tooling (eg Azure Data Factory, Databricks, lakehouse and/or data warehouse patterns)
  • Experience delivering large-scale, multi-division data initiatives within financial services
  • Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders while maintaining technical ownership of solutions
  • Ability to operate effectively in environments with incomplete requirements and complex Legacy data
