Data Governance Lead

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead to join a public sector organisation on a 12 month contract, with a strong possibility of extension. This is an exciting opportunity to drive data governance initiatives and ensure data is managed effectively across the organisation.

As the Data Governance Lead, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust data governance frameworks, working closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure compliance, data quality, and effective data management practices., * Lead the implementation and ongoing management of data governance frameworks and policies

• Work with Microsoft Purview to establish data cataloguing, classification, and compliance measures
• Engage with senior stakeholders across the organisation to drive data governance best practices
• Develop and maintain data governance standards, procedures, and documentation
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and public sector data requirements
• Provide guidance and training to teams on data governance principles and tools
• Monitor data quality and work with data owners to resolve issues
• Report on data governance metrics and progress to senior leadership

• Proven experience in a Data Governance Lead or similar senior data governance role
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview
• Demonstrable experience working within the public sector
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices
• Experience implementing data governance programmes from inception through to delivery

Desirable:

• Knowledge of public sector data compliance requirements
• Experience with Azure data platforms
• Relevant data governance certifications
