Job description

PSR Rail Team are recruiting for a Permanent Senior Design Engineer role in Derby. This will be working for established contractor within the telecoms and electrical industry. Please see more info below! About the Role The successful candidate will be responsible for producing Electrical Power & Plant (E&P) design deliverables across the full Network Rail project lifecycle. This includes feasibility studies, outline and detailed design stages, through to project handback documentation. You will be expected to plan and undertake site surveys to inform design development and contribute to the successful delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary rail projects. Strong collaboration, coordination, and communication skills are essential, as you will work closely with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders., + Produce E&P design deliverables across all GRIP / PACE stages + Plan, lead, and undertake site surveys + Coordinate and collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams + Ensure designs comply with Network Rail, British, and European standards + Apply CDM and CSM hazard management principles throughout the design process + Check and review design outputs against contractual and technical requirements + Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and sub-contractors + Support project bids and tender submissions + Plan and manage design budgets, resources, and delivery programmes + Mentor and develop junior engineers + Proactively manage and supervise design production, Minimum 5 years' experience producing E&P / M&E rail design deliverables, including: o Signalling power o Points heating o Station, junction, and level crossing lighting o Station M&E systems o Depot and sidings lighting and power o DNO supplies o Lineside building power supplies, Proficient in industry-standard design and calculation software, including: o Trimble (Amtech) o ETAP o Dialux / Relux o Bentley MicroStation & ProjectWise o Autodesk AutoCAD

Requirements

HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) + Member of the IET, Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration + Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification + City & Guilds 2382-18 (BS 7671:2018) + City & Guilds 2391 - Electrical Inspection and Testing + Full, clean UK driving licence, Experience leading site surveys + Strong understanding of CDM and CSM requirements + E&P Design CRE experience, Excellent Microsoft Office skills + Strong knowledge of project and engineering management processes + Highly self-motivated with a proactive approach to design assurance
