Job description

The Digital Level-Up programme is designed to advance digital maturity at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. Key initiatives include PAS deployment, digitised clinical records, data sharing, patient engagement, and electronic referrals. The order communications project digitises clinical order requests and tracking within IMS Maxims EPR, while clinical documentation projects offer smartforms and structured notes to enhance data quality. eObservations and eWhiteboards allow real-time monitoring of vital signs and patient flow. Digital correspondence projects modernise communication with tools like the IMS Maxims correspondence builder. Specialist review and inpatient tracker features support clinical workflow and visibility. Participants may join multiple schemes, gaining broad experience in digital transformation., We are seeking a motivated, technically skilled individual with experience or interest in systems development and health informatics within a healthcare or NHS setting. Working for OneLSC, it is aimed at candidates who wish to take on additional responsibilities alongside their existing role. You will work collaboratively with clinical, operational, and digital colleagues to deliver high-quality solutions that support patient care and Trust objectives., 1. Developing and enhancing IMS Maxims EPR functionality to support Digital Level-Up programme projects and NHS standards.

  1. Provide team leadership for an effective and efficient System Administration service across the organisation.

  2. Motivate and encourage all staff to provide a responsive, caring and disciplined service to our customers.

  3. Participate in regular housekeeping of systems.

  4. Work with senior managers to ensure systems comply with national standards, capturing requirements, collaboratively designing with clinical teams/leads, conducting build, and fulfilling testing to achieve sign-off and solution release for all product lifecycle activities.

  5. Liaise with system suppliers as required.

  6. Assist and participate in migration projects.

  7. Create and maintain standardised document templates

  8. Assist in system updates to include testing for upgrades for supported systems.

  9. Work with Stakeholders to ensure that all parties are aware of system changes and conduct robust tests on system releases and upgrades in the test environment.

  10. Develop systems to maximise functionality including:

a. IMS Maxims smartforms and clinical noting, supporting efficient digital documentation

b. IMS Maxims order communications and other clinical systems, streamlining clinical order processes.

c. IMS Maxims eObservations (including NEWS2) and eWhiteboards for real-time vital signs and patient flow management.

d. IMS Maxims correspondence builder and digital communication tools for secure clinical and patient correspondence.

e. IMS Maxims specialist review functionality to enable timely clinical input.

f. IMS Maxims inpatient tracker functionality for real-time visibility of patient status and progress.

  1. Develop into a local expert on other clinical applications used in the Trust, where required, and maximise the functionality where appropriate.

  2. Work closely with clinical services to enable the delivery and utilisation of electronic records to aid clinical care.

a. Providing guidance and support on redesign, system configuration and administration

b. Providing expert knowledge to all staff (including project managers, project teams, and users) to ensure electronic patient records are used effectively and consistently.

c. Providing technical support and advice to users and peers, including documentation and ongoing support.

  1. Working closely with other teams and departments to develop reporting functionality to ensure data is interpreted correctly.

  2. Reviewing the setup, configuration and management of electronic systems to promote consistent use across services.

  3. Presenting complex problem and service issues in a way that can be understood by staff in order that they can understand the impact on their service.

  4. Ensuring data standards are in place to support the use of electronic systems and ensure high data quality.

  5. Providing expert advice on how system functionality can address business problems.

  6. Managing and maintaining local reference data.

  7. Monitoring the system regularly for user or system errors, problems and performance.

  8. Documenting working procedures.

  9. Provide support for end user queries.

Requirements

  • Good level of general education
  • Educated to degree level or relevant equivalent experience (i.e. health service, facilitation or information)
  • Evidence of professional and/or personal and professional development

Desirable criteria

  • Management Qualification
  • European Computer Driving License (ECDL) or equivalent, * Effective motivator and facilitator
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge about the NHS and the benefits that can be obtained from information systems
  • 2 years' experience of NHS in a relevant area (e.g. an information or development based role, providing advice and specialist knowledge to others)
  • Experience of working with people at all levels within an organisation
  • Experience of coordinating and delivering meetings
  • Experience of managing a service/staff

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.
