Job description
We're seeking a skilled Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable solutions on Azure. You'll work closely with product owners and business users to turn requirements into technical delivery, owning workstreams within your squad. This hands-on role involves building and maintaining a modern data platform, ensuring best practices, compliance, and supporting team development through coaching.

- Build and maintain a cutting-edge Data Platform using the Azure suite.
- Deliver high-quality, scalable solutions aligned with governance and compliance standards.
- Support operational processes with monitoring and alerting for reliability.
- Guide analysts on interfacing with platform technologies and help build data capability across the organisation.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of cloud data platforms and storage (ideally Azure).
- Proven hands-on experience in Data Engineering.
- Excellent SQL skills (functional and non-functional).
- Knowledge of data integration and workflow tools (eg, Azure Data Factory).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and source control
Desirable:
- Skills in Python, Spark, C#, or similar languages.
- Proactive, flexible, and able to prioritise effectively.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in a public sector setting
Benefits & conditions
- Competitive daily rate of £575 to £625 (GBP). INSIDE IR35.
- Temporary position within a respected public sector organisation.
- Based in Brighton (4 days per month)
