Job description
- Develop, test, and maintain high-quality Python applications and services
- Build APIs, data pipelines, and Back End services using modern frameworks
- Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and policy teams
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code
- Contribute to cloud-based solutions (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Ensure solutions meet security, accessibility, and government digital standards
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Python
- Experience with frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL)
- Familiarity with version control (Git)
- Experience delivering production systems in a regulated or large-scale environment
Desirable Experience
- UK Government or public sector project experience
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Docker/Kubernetes
- Data engineering or analytics exposure
- Knowledge of GDS standards and service assessments
- Experience working with sensitive or secure data
