Job description
We're looking for a Support Software Engineer to join our Customer Support Team, reporting to the Support Manager. This role provides second- and third-line technical support, acting as the go-to person for complex issues and helping to reduce pressure on our Consultants and Developers by resolving problems at source wherever possible., * Acting as a second- and third-line escalation point for complex technical issues within the Customer Support team
- Investigating, diagnosing, and resolving software issues involving code, databases, integrations, and system architecture
- Carrying out thorough root-cause analysis before referring issues to Consultants, Developers, or R&D
- Clearly documenting findings and recommendations when escalation is required
- Developing fixes, workarounds, and bespoke modifications using the Sage X3 4GL toolset and supporting technologies
- Communicating effectively with customers when needed, translating technical complexity into clear, understandable explanations
- Working closely with Support Analysts, Developers, and R&D to improve outcomes and reduce repeat issues
- Building small tools or scripts to improve internal efficiency and customer response times
- Continuously developing your technical skills and contributing ideas for improvement and innovation
Requirements
Do you have experience in TypeScript?, We're keen to hear from graduates, first or second jobbers, and college leavers who have strong technical foundations - but just as importantly, enthusiasm, curiosity, and the drive to succeed in a customer-focused technical role. You'll receive full product training, including Sage certification, and gain hands-on experience working with real-world ERP systems in a role that offers variety, technical challenge, and clear career development opportunities within a supportive and professional environment., You have demonstrable experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python, gained through study, personal projects, or commercial work, and a genuine enthusiasm for technology and problem-solving. You enjoy getting to the root of complex issues and have the tenacity to see them through to resolution.
You're comfortable working with databases (such as MS SQL, Oracle, or MySQL) and have an understanding of modern web technologies and how systems interact. Just as importantly, you enjoy helping customers and can communicate technical concepts clearly and confidently, adapting your approach to suit both technical and non-technical audiences.
You're adaptable, resilient, and eager to learn, with a positive attitude and a strong desire to develop your skills. You may be a graduate, a first or second jobber, or a college leaver with relevant technical experience. A Levels (with Computer Science preferred) and a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline are advantageous but not essential, and equivalent practical experience will be fully considered., Applicants must possess the required work permit, visa, or immigration document to work in the UK on an unrestricted basis.
