Job description
A Security Consultant will enable clients in clearly understanding their exposure to security threats/risks, and putting in place pragmatic and cost effective controls. This includes assessing risks at the technical or system process level, and measuring the associated business impact, via document review or structured questionnaires.
They may also lead client interviews and small investigations, creation of risk assessments and reports, or security assessments, or workstreams within wider projects. They will proficiently translate framework controls into business requirements in straightforward situations, whilst applying standard framework or relevant BAE Systems IPR/standard approaches. They will also work with account teams to identify new opportunities for work and support the production of quality proposals, or have involvement in business growth related customer presentations.
Works under general direction within a clear framework of accountability. Exercises substantial personal responsibility and autonomy. Uses substantial discretion in identifying and responding to complex issues and assignments as they relate to the deliverable/scope of work. Escalates when issues fall outside their framework of accountability. Plans, schedules and monitors work to meet given objectives and processes to time and quality targets.
Influences customers, suppliers and partners at project level. Makes decisions which influence the success of projects and team objectives. May have some responsibility for the work of others. Engages with and contributes to the work of cross-functional teams to ensure that customers and user needs are being met throughout the deliverable/scope of work. Facilitates collaboration between stakeholders who share common objectives. Participates in external activities related to own specialism.

Core Duties Accountabilities
- Understand and be able to explain risk exposure to cyber security threats/risks and help put in place pragmatic and cost effective controls
- Help identify, manage and treat risk to a client's information and information technology assets.
- Support client interviews and investigations, whilst managing risk assessments and reports.
- Proficiently translate framework controls into business requirements in straightforward situations, whilst applying standard framework or relevant BAE Systems IPR/standard approaches.
- Work with account teams to identify new opportunities for work and support the production of quality proposals.
Delivery Effectiveness
- Sources and applies collective knowledge (i.e items from wiki) to current engagement to achieve greater efficiency/consistency
- Agrees project approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans) and tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate.
- Demonstrates ability to use role relevant tooling at an advanced level
- Demonstrates independent thought, judgment and creativity when working with client or internal engagements.
- Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate in accordance with LCM, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded.
- Takes on discrete team management responsibilities (e.g. new joiners, community management/coach, operational support, etc.)
- Understands the commercial impact of scope changes and escalates to manager where appropriate.
- Closes down projects with minimal support where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded.
