Our UK based leading banking client is looking for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join the team on an initial 6-month contract.
Job Description: DevOps Engineer (Python, Microservices, API Gateways)
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with strong experience in Python scripting, unit testing, microservices architecture, and API gateway management. The ideal candidate will support automation initiatives, CI/CD pipeline enhancements, platform reliability, and API lifecycle operations. Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) will be a significant advantage.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Python with hands-on experience in writing automation scripts.
- Experience writing unit test cases using frameworks such as pytest, unittest, or nose.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed system principles.
- Hands-on experience with at least one API Gateway (Apigee, Kong, Tyk, AWS API Gateway, etc.).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like GitLab, Jenkins, etc.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes & Helm.
Preferred/Nice-to-Have
- Experience with AWS cloud services.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
- Understanding of security best practices (OAuth2, mTLS, secret management).
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and debugging abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Proactive, ownership-focused mindset.
