We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure & Security Engineer to join a growing, security-first MSP supporting SMEs across London and the Home Counties.
This is a hands-on senior technical role. You will be responsible for the delivery, improvement, and security of customer IT environments, acting as the primary technical authority within the business. The role combines desktop and server support, cloud and infrastructure ownership, project delivery, and the implementation of practical, real-world security controls.
You will work closely with the Managing Director, influencing tooling, standards, and security practices, while remaining directly involved in support, onboarding, and customer projects.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys owning technology end-to-end, is comfortable working independently, and prefers implementing security controls rather than operating in a policy-only or SOC-only role., * Provide senior-level, hands-on technical support across desktop, server, cloud, and network environments
- Act as the final technical escalation point for complex issues and incidents
- Design, implement, and maintain secure infrastructure solutions for SME customers
- Support and manage:
- Windows Server environments (Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP)
- Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Entra ID)
- Microsoft Azure infrastructure and identity services
- Sophos Firewalls and associated security controls
- Deliver and lead technical projects, including customer onboarding, migrations, and security improvements
- Implement and maintain security controls, working alongside MDR/SOC services where applicable
- Take ownership of technical standards, tooling, and best practices, with guidance from the Managing Director
- Support Cyber Essentials and IASME-aligned implementations and audits
- Work directly with customers, clearly explaining technical issues and security risks in plain English
- Deliver technical training and knowledge sharing, both internally and to customers
- Remain billable where appropriate and contribute to high-quality service delivery
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have experience in SharePoint?, * 5+ years' experience in a senior technical role, ideally within an MSP or SME-focused environment
- Strong, practical experience with:
- Microsoft Azure
- Windows Server infrastructure
- Microsoft 365
- Sophos Firewalls (endpoint experience can be trained)
- Confident supporting both desktops and servers in live customer environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a structured, security-focused approach
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical outcomes
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required
Desirable (But Not Essential)
- Experience with:
- Windows Autopilot / Intune
- Axcient Backup
- ConnectWise toolsets
- Cyber Essentials / IASME frameworks
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Sophos, security-related), though experience is valued over certifications, * A hands-on senior engineer, not a policy-only or SOC-only security role
- Someone who enjoys being close to both the technology and the customer
- A practical problem-solver who can balance security, usability, and business needs
- Comfortable working in a small, growing business where your technical decisions matter, * Do you have at least 5 years' hands-on experience supporting and managing IT infrastructure in an MSP or SME-focused environment?

- This role is a hands-on senior engineering position, involving direct support, project delivery, and customer interaction. It is not a policy-only or SOC-only security role. Are you comfortable with this?

- Are you comfortable working directly with customers, leading technical discussions, and explaining security risks and solutions in plain English?
- This is a UK-based, hybrid role (home-based) requiring customer site visits and attendance at occasional in-person meetings across London and the Home Counties. Are you able to meet this requirement?

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
