Job description

  • As a Senior Data Scientist, you will:
  • Join our team working on the Health Transformation Programme, using your expertise in large datasets and data science techniques to support the development of services that improve outcomes and experiences for both claimants and colleagues.
  • Collaborate closely with Design and Build Strategy teams and a range of digital professionals to promote effective use of data across the organization.
  • Deliver data science solutions that address business challenges or refine established processes, using the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your approach in technical statements.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure that analytical projects meet the necessary objectives and timelines.

Requirements

  • We are looking for individuals with:
  • A strong academic background in fields such as Maths, Data Science, Statistics, or Computer Science.
  • Significant experience in delivering innovative, data-driven solutions and applying a range of data science techniques to solve business problems or enhance established processes.
  • Proven ability to explore, combine, and transform data from disparate sources, writing code in R, Python, or SQL that is testable and scalable.
  • Demonstrable experience in building team capability through role modeling, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues to understand their requirements and deliver complex analytical projects in a timely manner.
  • Influential communication skills, with the ability to convey results to various audiences, translating technical concepts into non-technical language as necessary.

We offer a competitive salary of up to £73,346, alongside a comprehensive benefits package that includes a civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%. Our generous leave package starts at 26 days, increasing to 31 days over time, with the option to take up to 3 additional days off a month on flexi-time, plus standard public holidays.
