Amsterdam/Antwerp - The NPS (News Personalisation Squad) mission is to improve the relevance of our digital products for our customers by providing them with personalised experiences. Through our various channels (websites, apps, newsletters and push notifications) we aim to keep the user up to date with both the important news and the news they in particular are interested in. We are a team of Machine Learning Engineers, and Data Scientists that develop & maintain a collection of APIs that power all of our News brands.
Our solution currently serves millions of recommendations per day in news products like hln.be, nu.nl and volkskrant.nl.
Our team is passionate about helping the users with our personalised recommendations and considers ethics as a primary concern. Working in the field of News Recommendation, we are very conscious of the impact we have on users' news diet and the content they are exposed to.
What you will be doing:
Maintain and extend our Recommendation back-end.
Maintain and set up data pipelines to guarantee data is ready for (near) real-time recommendation
Support operational excellence through practices like code review and pair programming.
Actively monitor different applications and their infrastructure as well as intervening to solve operational problems whenever they arise. The entire team is responsible for the operations of our services.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Spark?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, a related field, or relevant prior experience
4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Experience with data engineering
Enjoys working on a variety of technologies and products
Pre-existing knowledge or experience with machine learning modelling
You will work alongside a team of ML Engineers on some of the most innovative ML applications in the region and industry. A salary that matches your work experience.
A 36-hour or 38-hour workweek (depending on location)
8% holiday pay and 4% personal choice budget
