Job description

Have you ever wanted to shape how complex cloud platforms are automated, optimised and scaled? This is a great opportunity to take the lead on major automation and optimisation initiatives that make a meaningful difference to efficiency, performance and value. You'll be joining a friendly and knowledgeable technical team who are passionate about creating high-quality, secure and scalable solutions for our public sector clients.

We can offer great career progression opportunities, ability to be based anywhere across the UK, benefits which you can flex to meet your needs, and training and development opportunities.

In this role, you'll take ownership of building and refining automation frameworks across Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. You'll use Terraform, Ansible and your own ideas to deliver robust automation and smart optimisation approaches that reduce cost, ensure system reliability and support future-ready cloud environments. You'll also play a key part in guiding and mentoring colleagues, helping to uplift capability across the team and shape best practice.

What you'll be doing:

  • Building and implementing cloud automation strategies that improve reliability, scalability and cost-efficiency.
  • Leading cloud optimisation initiatives to enhance resource utilisation and reduce operational costs.
  • Identifying automation and optimisation opportunities using Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tooling.
  • Developing and maintaining automation frameworks and advanced scripts using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Mentoring team members to increase capability in cloud automation and optimisation practices.
  • Ensuring solutions align with business goals and adhere to security standards for UK public sector work.

What you'll bring:

  • Expertise in Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with experience delivering scalable automation and optimisation solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of Ansible and Terraform, including developing complex scripts and frameworks.
  • A strong track record of leading automation or optimisation projects.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a detail-focused approach to uncovering optimisation opportunities.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor others and lead by example.
  • Security clearance.

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience applying cloud security best practice in line with NCSC guidance.
  • Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, SolarWinds or the ELK stack.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
  • Project engineering background.
  • A passion for continuous learning and staying up to date with cloud automation trends.

If you're interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we're looking for, please do apply, we'd love to hear from you!

Although this role is advertised as full-time, we believe that flexibility at work can promote work/life balance, increase your motivation, reduce stress and improves performance and productivity. We support different ways of working and can offer a range of flexible working arrangements. So, if you're interested and need to work flexibly, we encourage you to apply and talk to us about what might be possible.
