An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Security Consultant with a focus on malicious Risk and associated Risk Management Strategy to join the Security Advisory practice in our Resilience, Security & Risk team based in the UKIMEA region.
The Security Advisory practice provides a range of tailored consultancy services including Security Risk Assessment, Security Strategy, Security Operations, Security Governance and Culture, and Security Awareness. We work across a range of sectors including transport (Rail, Aviation and Maritime), infrastructure (Energy, Water and Data) and property (Sports and Venus, Government Property, Healthcare) amongst others. We work both to support the wider Arup with project delivery, and directly with Clients to help them understand their security risk and implement effective mitigation measures.
You will work alongside others in our Security Advisory team and directly with clients in the across a range of sectors to develop our security offering, in partnership with other subject-matter experts from Resilience, Security & Risk and design team members. You will be responsible for management and delivery of projects, including managing teams to deliver project work and working directly with Clients to understand their needs, define appropriate project scopes and then deliver. You will also have the opportunity to shape our internal methods and service offerings, particularly in the area of risk, working directly with the Security Advisory leadership and wider Arup to develop new project delivery methods, new product offerings and similar, aligned to wider market needs.
You will assist clients in evaluating and managing security risks in the design and operation of their assets across a range of sectors, including management of engagement with regulators and other stakeholders, to develop solutions that address security risks and other design and operational criteria.
The Role Will See You
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the strategic direction for our Security Advisory service offering.
- Working with and in front of clients, primarily across the UK but with opportunity to work in other regions (notably Europe) to understand their needs and to partner with them in the development and implementation of proportionate, sustainable and innovative solutions.
- Managing project delivery within the Security Advisory team and wider Resilience, Security and Risk practice.
- Contributing to the development of a pipeline of fee-earning work in the Security Advisory space and being involved in all aspects of project and commercial management.
- Developing our internal tools, methods and service offerings to ensure we are aligned to market needs and maintain technical excellence.

Requirements
Do you have experience in Report writing?, The successful candidate will be a well-credentialled, technically excellent and inspiring leader with either a qualification in security risk management, political science, international relations, terrorism studies or an engineering discipline; or significant demonstrable experience in security risk assessment or provision of security advisory services. The role requires a candidate to be both technically excellent and commercially astute, with the successful candidate expected to manage both technical leadership on projects and provide commercial oversight during project delivery.
We are Looking for a Candidate who:
- Holds (preferred) or is working towards a professional qualification with a relevant recognised body e.g. Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES), ICAO AvSec PM, Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) or Chartered Management Consultant (ChMC).
- Has a track record in professional services consultancy or similar client / site facing roles where you have been responsible for advising on security matters.
- Has the ability to convey complex technical information and concepts clearly and to all levels of an organisation - with a particular focus on conveying information to non-experts and excellence in report-writing, oral communication and visual presentation skills.
- Has the ability to assess and evaluate physical and personnel security risk through threat, vulnerability and risk assessment effectively, and to develop proportionate, sustainable and innovative solutions to treat and manage risk that also answer to other design and operational criteria.
- Has experience managing projects and teams, including monitoring of financial performance, delivery to programme, defining project scopes and working directly with Clients.
- Will work with the Security Advisory leadership team to inspire and develop junior staff and to develop new and existing service offerings to ensure we can meet market needs and deliver technical excellence to our clients.
While much of the role will involve advising clients on risk, it would be beneficial to have a rounded knowledge of protective security measures in order to deliver a complete and holistic solution to our clients. While previous experience working in a similar role in a consultancy environment or similar would be preferred, this role would also suit someone with a solid physical security background who can undertake risk assessments, site surveys and security analysis.
Please note - the role will require the successful candidate to obtain a UK SC Clearance. This typically requires minimum 5 years of residency in the UK, however candidates who do not meet this residency requirement may still be considered.
