Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead

We're looking for a senior, hands-on engineer who enjoys building software and shaping how teams work. You'll spend at least 50% of your time writing code, while also acting as a technical lead - challenging our current approaches, improving front-end practices, and helping the business make better product decisions.Key responsibilitiesTechnical leadership

• Act as the technical lead across front-end and full-stack work
• Review and improve existing front-end architecture and workflows
• Set standards for code quality, tooling, and best practice
• Challenge "how we've always done it" and propose better solutions
• Connect technical decision-making with the needs of our customers in the automotive industry

Hands-on development (50%+)

• Build and maintain features using:
• PHP (existing systems)
• React (modern front-end work)
• .NET (working closely with backend developers)
• Lead by example with clean, maintainable, well-tested code

Product & business contribution

• Work closely with product and leadership to understand business goals
• Advise on what should and shouldn't be built
• Translate business requirements into pragmatic technical solutions
• Push back constructively when requirements don't make sense
• Proactively present solutions that sometimes haven't come from product teams but from an understanding of the business and its customers
• Demonstrates strong commercial awareness, understanding how technical decisions impact revenue, customer value, and business outcomes

Team collaboration

• Support and mentor developers across the UK and India
• Encourage clearer communication and stronger technical confidence
• Improve collaboration between front-end, backend, and QA
• Be a visible, approachable presence in the team

Do you have experience in React?, Must-have

• Senior-level experience as a software engineer
• Strong React experience (architecture, patterns, performance)
• Solid PHP experience (working with existing codebases)
• Working knowledge of .NET and ability to collaborate on backend design
• Experience reviewing, improving, or modernising front-end approaches
• Confident at communicating (must be prepared to challenge ideas respectfully)

Nice-to-have

• Mysql Knowledge
• Experience leading or mentoring teams without formal line management
• Exposure to distributed teams or offshore collaboration
• Product-focused mindset (not just "build what I'm told")
• Experience introducing better tooling, CI/CD, or dev processes
