Job description

Computershare are currently looking to recruit a Lead Software Developer to work closely with the Technical Delivery Lead as part of our Issuer Services business.

You will lead and grow a high performing engineering team that consistently delivers excellent outcomes for the Issuer Services Investor Engagement business.

This position sits within a newly established Edinburgh based team. The team will create the next generation of customer experiences on a unified platform that brings together multiple businesses and product capabilities to create a market leading digital experience that delivers new and compelling value for customers.

Why would you choose this role when there are other Lead Software Developer roles in the market? Well, there are a few things that make this role stand out:

  • This is a unique opportunity as we look to integrate 3 entities to create a new and exciting business line for our business.
  • We work in a fun and collaborative team environment.
  • We offer continuous learning and education opportunities and put emphasis on continued improvement and growth.

A role you will love

We are seeking a Lead Software Developer to build and promote a highly performing, engaged and energic team environment.

You will be a technical mentor, a strategic contributor, and an advocate for engineering best practices across our products.

Other key responsibilities:

  • Build and foster a group of passionate, highly skilled, engaged and motivated Software Engineers.
  • Make sure the team can engage closely and collaboratively with the business.
  • Facilitate/coordinate coaching, mentoring, training, and professional development programs within the group.
  • Participate, and encourage team participation, in learning and development activities including industry updates, "lunch and learn" sessions, formal mentoring and formal training opportunities.
  • Drive the maturation of Software/Solution Engineering as a valued discipline in the Engineering team.
  • Attend conferences, in house training and give back to the internal Engineering community by sharing your learnings and encouraging others to do the same.

Requirements

You will be an experienced engineer who takes genuine satisfaction in guiding and mentoring others while remaining hands on with your technical work. You will have a strong commitment to delivering high quality, robust solutions and a real passion for applying and promoting industry best practice.

Moreover, you will support the growth and development of those around you and help the team maintain consistently high standards.

The role requires the ability to understand best practices from across the Computershare Engineering Group and apply them pragmatically to the project.

Other key skills required for the role include:

  • Hands-on full stack engineer with experience in React, C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework and SQL.
  • Bringing experience of leading the engineering of web applications, with an understanding of mobile development considered an advantage.
  • Have a strong record of collaborating with product managers, delivery leads, test teams and support functions.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the business domains your products have served.
  • Demonstrate experience of working effectively with remote teams.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and day to day support to engineers within the team.
