Head to getyourguide.careers to take the first step. Team mission

The Traveler Assistance (TARS) team is transforming traveler support at GetYourGuide by building an autonomous AI agent that handles complex rescheduling, cancellations, and support queries at massive scale. We're tackling cutting-edge challenges in deploying LLMs in production, ensuring these systems work reliably for millions of users, while building high-performance infrastructure that serves hundreds of thousands of daily interactions. Our AI-first team of engineers, designers, conversational designers, and data scientists is pioneering what it means to deploy LLMs safely in production, and we leverage AI extensively in our own development workflow to accelerate our impact.

We empower engineers with high autonomy to make decisions and act on them, balancing pragmatic and strategic tradeoffs daily. We navigate this rapidly evolving space together, and while we're driven by impact, having fun while building something great is equally important to us. Your mission

  • Design and develop highly scalable systems for chat infrastructure, email forwarding, LLM integration, and phishing prevention that serve millions of travelers
  • Own full-stack responsibilities, with primary focus on backend systems but including frontend work when needed
  • Continuously improve our systems by aggressively removing tech debt and insisting on simple, scalable, and maintainable solutions
  • Take an active role in operational work and maintenance, raising the bar for engineering craftsmanship and how we run our services
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, propose technical solutions, and deliver working software that drives measurable impact
  • Work in a cross-functional mission team alongside product managers, designers, conversational designers, and data scientists
  • Leverage AI daily to accelerate your own productivity and push the team's capabilities to the next level
  • Stay current with the latest trends in LLM development and bring relevant innovations to the team
  • Mentor engineers, contribute to team culture, and elevate the performance standards across the team

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Proficiency in Java/Spring and the ability to build features from scratch
  • Ability to contribute to the frontend codebase (ideally using TypeScript and Vue)
  • A strong background in designing and implementing scalable service-oriented architectures and a good understanding of design patterns
  • Experience building and running production microservices in distributed, cloud, and Kubernetes-based environments, with modern observability tools
  • A positive, pro-active, team-oriented mindset, and a passion for mentoring and sharing knowledge
  • A passion for delivering clean code and continuously learning about new tools, languages, and practices
  • Be excited to experiment with and leverage AI
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Benefits & conditions

  • Have built SaaS products before
  • Experience building and shipping LLM-powered products
  • Experience improving products through A/B experimentation

How we'll make your career journey extraordinary

  • Annual personal growth budget and mentorship programs for continuous learning and development
  • Work from anywhere in the world for 30 days per year
  • A hybrid working approach with three days of in office collaboration (Mon, Tue, Thur) and two days of optional at home focus time.
  • Opportunities to collaborate and socialize with team members through quarterly team events and yearly company-wide events
  • Monthly transportation and fitness budget
  • Discounts for you, your friends, and family on GetYourGuide activities
  • Language reimbursement program
  • Health and wellness benefits
