Job description

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work closely with our cross-functional teams in Barcelona and across Europe, collaborating with our development teams, machine learning engineers, and data scientists. You will be responsible for understanding complex vehicle data, building robust data pipelines, and implementing data quality processes that support our analytics and machine learning initiatives.

In this role, you will be the bridge between raw vehicle telemetry or fleet data and actionable insights, ensuring that our data infrastructure can scale with our growing customer base while maintaining high standards of data quality and accessibility.

Your tasks

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient data pipeline architectures using AWS services (DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, SQS) and Databricks
  • Develop processes to monitor and improve data quality, completeness, and consistency across vehicle telemetry data sources
  • Collaborate with ML Engineers and Data Scientists to prepare and deliver clean, validated data for research and model development
  • Analyze and understand complex vehicle data from various sources, including telematics devices and OEM connections
  • Document data flows, models, and quality processes to ensure knowledge sharing across the organization
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval to improve performance and reduce costs
  • Implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Build data visualization tools and dashboards to help understand complex vehicle data patterns
  • Participate in agile development sprints and collaborate closely with development teams
  • Research and evaluate new data technologies and approaches to continuously improve our data infrastructure

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related technical field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering roles, with a focus on building data pipelines and ensuring data quality
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming, with Node.js knowledge being a plus
  • Extensive experience with AWS services, particularly DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, and SQS
  • Experience working with Databricks and SQL databases
  • Knowledge of data modeling, ETL design, and data warehouse concepts
  • Familiarity with data quality tools and frameworks
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable explanations
  • Experience implementing data governance and documentation practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with real-time data processing and time-series data is a plus
  • Knowledge of vehicle telematics data, CAN bus protocols, or automotive systems is a significant advantage
  • Experience working in agile development environments
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
