Systems Engineer (Urbit)

• Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and distributed systems that keep our platform resilient at scale.
• Collaborate across squads to deliver impactful features spanning multiple systems.
• Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack, finding root causes and preventing recurrences.

• 6+ years building production systems with functional programming languages (Elixir/Erlang preferred).

• Proven experience with relational databases at scale.

• Deep understanding of microservice architecture patterns-and the pitfalls to avoid.

• Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) and distributed/concurrent programming.

• Hands-on with key-value and distributed stores (ETS, Mnesia, Cassandra, Redis).

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Consul, Jenkins, Prometheus, and/or RabbitMQ in production environments., * Bring a thoughtful approach to trade-offs-knowing when to ship fast vs. when to invest for the long term.

• Have experience scaling systems for global, high-throughput usage.

• Share knowledge and mentor others, raising the technical bar for the team., * An academic degree in the relevant field is good to have

• 4+ years of commercial experience

• Corresponding level of skills: Elixir advanced
