Linux Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Linux Engineer to support and further develop our on?premise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platform within a large, enterprise environment in the Netherlands. You will work closely with Product Owners and squad members to design, automate, build, and operate Linux infrastructure solutions in line with agreed requirements. This is a hands?on, delivery?focused role, suitable for a senior engineer who is comfortable working in structured production environments., In this role, you will:

• Work with the Product Owner and squad members to test, configure, build, and maintain on?prem RHEL platform automation
• Drive and lead solutions end?to?end, including design, development, testing/qualification, deployment, and support
• Implement and operate infrastructure solutions collaboratively within the team
• Deploy infrastructure and software in accordance with formal change and release management processes
• Provide L2 operational support for RHEL infrastructure components
• Apply automation?first principles to improve platform stability, consistency, and efficiency
• Track, document, and maintain services, systems, and operational procedures as they evolve
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders following Agile and DevOps ways of working
• Engage with other internal teams to ensure a high level of service quality and customer satisfaction
• Handle incidents and problems with a strong focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement
• Share knowledge clearly through documentation, peer collaboration, and technical guidance

Do you have experience in VMware?, Core Technical Experience

• 8+ years of hands?on RHEL administration in enterprise?scale production environments
• Strong Linux expertise, including OS commands, disk and volume management, kernel concepts, and system troubleshooting
• 5+ years of experience with container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes / OpenShift)
• 3+ years of Ansible automation development, including playbook creation and maintenance
• Experience with Red Hat Ansible Controller
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite for lifecycle, patch, and configuration management
• 3+ years of experience with Git / Bitbucket
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and TCP/IP

Platform & Automation

• Experience deploying operating systems and applications through Ansible?based automation
• Performing regular platform maintenance and upgrade activities using Ansible Controller and Red Hat Satellite
• Experience writing shell scripts and Ansible playbooks for system administration tasks
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or CloudBees
• Experience with configuration management and orchestration
• Strong experience with VMware (templates, snapshots, VM provisioning and management)
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as vRA / vRO
