Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Database Administrator to join our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, optimising, and securing our database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity. The position involves working with diverse database platforms including MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server, with a focus on delivering reliable data solutions that support business operations., * Design, implement, and maintain robust database systems ensuring optimal performance and high availability.

  • Perform routine database administration tasks such as backups, recovery, and security management.
  • Develop and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to enhance system efficiency.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimisation of database systems to ensure fast response times.
  • Manage database security protocols and user access controls to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues related to database performance or connectivity.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database schemas and support application integration using SSIS, PL/SQL, Bash (Unix shell), Shell Scripting, and other relevant tools.
  • Implement disaster recovery plans and ensure data integrity across all platforms.
  • Maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

Do you have experience in UNIX?, * Proven experience in Database Administration across multiple platforms including MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Linux environments.

  • Strong knowledge of database design principles and best practices for high availability solutions.
  • Proficiency in SQL programming along with experience in PL/SQL and Shell Scripting (Bash/Unix shell).
  • Hands-on experience with performance tuning techniques for large-scale databases.
  • Familiarity with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for data integration tasks.
  • Knowledge of Linux server administration including command-line tools and scripting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues efficiently under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent are desirable but not essential. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional seeking to utilise their expertise in a challenging environment while contributing to the organisation's ongoing success through effective database management practices.
