Job description

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an IT Senior Network Officer to join our IT Systems Team. This role is crucial for the development and maintenance of the College's network infrastructure, ensuring robust support for our wide-ranging organisational services. The IT Senior Network Officer will work closely with the IT Systems Manager to enhance the overall network architecture and manage daily operations effectively.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage and maintain the College's network and communication systems to meet agreed service levels.
  • Configure and oversee local and wide area networks, wireless systems, remote access systems, and internet services.
  • Ensure all network changes comply with the change management policy.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring and traffic analysis for network optimization.
  • Develop and document procedures for network equipment updates.
  • Support the design and implementation of new network solutions and maintain a test network environment for piloting new applications.
  • Provide technical support for the resolution of network-related incidents and problems within agreed SLAs.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and handle procurement of new equipment in line with the College's guidelines.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Routing protocols?, * A Level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline with at least three years' experience in IT networking and telephony, or seven years' relevant experience, or an associate level networking qualification such as Cisco CCNA with two years' experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of Ethernet switches, routing protocols, and network security.
  • Experience in a multi-site IT service environment with a strong understanding of network protocols and their application.
  • Proficiency in managing Cisco and/or HP networking environments and Microsoft network services.
  • Ability to identify and resolve faults and to maintain high security and performance standards.
