Job description
Autodesk is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to join the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Data team.
AEC Data offers API's and services that help our customers access, use and share their most valued asset, their data, across their entire ecosystem. You will report to the Director, Software Development based in the UK.
You will nurture talent, develop and advocate best engineering practices, and provide guidance and mentoring to your team to deliver high-quality solutions to their customers.
You will be part of and to help evolve the software development discipline in a lean/Agile environment and to contribute to an organisation committed to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead Main Business Outcome / Initiatives. Lead and contribute to development of our goals and long-term strategy of the services
- Promote best engineering practices and coordination among other teams
- Collaborate with Product Managers and other partners to achieve business outcomes and deliver high-quality software meeting customer needs
- Inspire, motivate and coach team members to achieve maximum productivity, optimal creativity and efficiency
- Mentor team members to develop their careers and to achieve individual success
- Hire and develop top engineering talent
- Enhance engineering efficiency; observe the team, identify opportunities, and influence the improvement
- Manage the unknowns and help teams manage through the uncertainties
- Promote customer-centricity and engineering excellence in teams
- Encourage the team in the adoption of AI tools to improve productivity
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands on experience in the industry involving developing cloud scale and server applications and services
- 3+ years of experience leading and managing cross -functional development teams
- 3+ years of experience managing senior developers and architects
- Experience leading teams developing large, scalable, available and resilient cloud data systems
- Experience building API strategy and API strategy
- Experience with AWS cloud services
- Exposure to compute platforms, large-scale cloud compute systems
- Experience hiring talented developers and setting up teams for success
- Experience managing geo distributed teams across different time zones
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
