As a DevOps Engineer you'll grow and learn in an environment that truly recognises the importance of a robust DevOps methodology. This is vital work, making sure we release the best-of-breed software and platforms that will have a real impact on customers, businesses and communities across the UK.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support and evolve a Regulatory Risk Model Execution Platform built on Google Cloud. The application ecosystem includes Java Spring Boot microservices, a Next.js-based frontend, and a Python-driven model execution layer.

As a DevOps Engineer, you'll be part of a team that is dedicated to transforming our software landscape. Day to day, you'll be:

  • working with the latest DevOps tools, including Kubernetes, ISTIO, Harness
  • building solutions on Google infrastructure such as GKE, Cloud Run, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, BigQuery, GCS, CloudSQL, HCV Vault
  • working with the Product Owner, Lead Engineer and customers to understand, refine and prioritise items for the feature team backlog, using strong problem-solving skills and a combination of technical knowledge, experience and judgement to identify available options and clearly set-out the way forward.
  • coaching and inspiring our software engineering teams, helping them upskill in a relevant technology area
  • taking ownership of specific technology or delivery problems and solving them acting as a tireless ambassador for DevOps, both internally and externally., Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities and we're committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.

Requirements

We understand no one can be an expert in every aspect of DevOps tooling. So, if you have a strong technical background, we'd like to hear from you.

Specifically, we're looking for:

  • Experience with cloud technology, particularly Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience of CI/CD pipelines creation and management such as Harness, Jenkins, GIT, Nexus, Artifactory, Maven, Ant, Gradle, Terraform, GCP Deployment Manager and others
  • Experience of continuous monitoring such as Dynatrace, NewRelic, Splunk, Nagios, Prometheus, Kibana and others
  • Experience of continuous testing such as Selenium, Cucumber, SonarQube, Mocha, Zephyr, Veracode and others
  • Experience with orchestration such as Docker, Google Kubernetes Engine, Ansible and IaC (e.g. Terraform)
  • Ability to understand complex business requirements and create business ready solutions
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, particularly the ability to convey business information arising from technical subject matter to non-technical people.

And any experience of this would be really useful:

  • Insights into industry solutions for data management, storage and analytics coupled with experience of financial data, including Credit Risk, capital and impairment processes
