Job description
We are developing fully connected manufacturing systems to drive WCM with Operational Excellence. Join us in transforming manufacturing by designing and implementing advanced control systems and automation solutions.
Reporting to the Operational Excellence Manager, the Factory of the Future Developer is responsible for the daily connectivity of shop floor equipment in support of bringing smart factory solutions into reality.
Role Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Identify PLC parameters, extract relevant data, and publish information to an MQTT broker from assembly cells, robots, CNC machines, and die casting equipment.
- Support the implementation of Condition-Based Monitoring systems and assist with related projects, including energy management and sustainability initiatives.
- Develop and configure Grafana dashboards for effective data visualization.
- Prepare comprehensive build documentation for Single Board Computers (SBCs) using Docker.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
- Troubleshoot support issues efficiently by performing root cause analysis.
- Create and update documentation related to project activities and system configurations.
- Communicate effectively with users at all organizational levels to ensure clear understanding and support.
- Engage in high-level discussions and collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to drive projects forward.
- Possess relevant tertiary education and/or industry experience and qualifications.
- Innovate methods to connect legacy equipment with modern infrastructure.
- Promote and uphold the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies throughout the department and plant.

Programming Languages: IEC 61131-3 (STL, FBD, LAD, SFC, ST), Python, JavaScript (Node.js)

IoT Application Protocols: MQTT, HTTP, OPC DA, OPC UA, WebSocket, S7

Networking Basics: UDP, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi

Edge Computing: Familiarity with edge devices and gateways (SBC e.g. Raspberry Pi, Gateways etc.)

Data Handling: Working with MS SQL, PostgreSQL databases.

Work Environment
- Plant conditions necessitate exposure to heat, cold, dust, hot objects, and loud noises within our manufacturing environment. Full Health and Safety training and PPE provided for all conditions.
