Job description
Exciting things are happening within the Digital Services Team at Derbyshire County Council, and we're looking for a highly skilled, forward-thinking Solutions Architect to join our Strategy & Architecture team.
Following a major organisational and digital strategy review, we are investing in modern tools, innovative platforms, and new ways of working to support a large-scale Digital Services transformation programme. Our ambition is to deliver modern, reliable and user-centred digital services for the citizens and communities of Derbyshire - and you could be a key part of that journey.
As a Solutions Architect (G11), you will operate as a senior technical role, driving the design and governance of enterprise-wide ICT solutions. You will lead on design and assurance, provide expert guidance, translate complex requirements, identify structural issues, drive collaboration, advise senior managers, and contribute to enterprise architecture, making a meaningful difference in local government. You'll work on services that genuinely improve people's lives - from social care and education to environmental services and community support.
Requirements
- Significant experience applying Enterprise Architecture frameworks, delivering architectural governance, leading change.
- Significant experience providing deep technical insight and improving ICT security. with ability to support large or complex IT projects with clear technical insight.
- Experience operating at a senior level in a large ICT Service environment, managing and delivering change.
- Awareness of technology roadmaps and how they support business strategy.
- Knowledge of datacentre and cloud technologies, patterns, and reference architectures.
- Experience using architecture tools (LeanIX preferred but not essential).
- Strong skills in communication, decision-making, strategy, technical design, understanding context, and influencing.
- Proven experience of managing, motivating and continually developing staff to deliver strong performance.
- High personal effectiveness and commitment to improvement.
- Relevant degree or ICT qualification or equivalent senior-level experience. Professional certifications such as TOGAF, Agile/Scrum, or Prince2 are desirable.
