Job description
As a Cloud Data Architect (Manager) , you will lead the design and delivery of modern data platforms across hybrid and cloud environments. You will shape architecture decisions, guide delivery teams, and partner closely with clients to ensure data platforms are secure, scalable, and fit for future AI and analytics use cases.
You will play a key role in leading engagements end-to-end, mentoring architects and engineers, and contributing to the evolution of BIP xTech's data architecture capability., * Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of modern data platforms across on-premises and cloud environments (primarily Azure and AWS).
- Own architecture decisions, selecting appropriate patterns, technologies, and services aligned to client needs and best practice.
- Translate business and analytical requirements into clear, robust architecture designs, supported by diagrams, documentation, and standards.
- Lead delivery across engagements, including work planning, governance, RAID management, milestones, dependencies, and stakeholder management.
- Manage, mentor, and develop architects and engineers, fostering high-quality delivery and consistent standards.
- Design and oversee batch and streaming data pipelines to support analytical and operational use cases.
- Work closely with clients, vendors, and partners to ensure solutions align with business objectives, security, and governance requirements.
- Contribute to the development of reusable architecture assets, reference designs, and standards within BIP xTech.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Software deployment?, * 5+ years' experience designing and architecting cloud-based data platforms for analytics and AI use cases.
- Proven experience leading end-to-end delivery of data platform programmes, including architecture governance and stakeholder management.
- Strong expertise in modern data architecture concepts: data lakes, data warehouses, lakehouse, data mesh, data governance, security, and quality.
- Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS native services for data storage, processing, orchestration, analytics, and AI enablement.
- Demonstrated ability to architect scalable batch and streaming pipelines using ETL/ELT patterns.
- Proficiency in one or more programming or query languages (e.g. SQL, Python, Java, R).
- Experience managing architecture quality processes, such as design authorities or architecture review boards.
- Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience creating reusable architecture assets across multiple engagements or within a centre of excellence.
- Exposure to platform operations and enablement, including observability, cost management, deployment standards, and runbooks.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments.
- Azure and/or AWS certifications (e.g. Azure Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Data Engineer).
- Eligibility for, or existing, UK Security Clearance (BPSS/SC/DV).
