We are hiring a Technical Product Owner (Software) to take end-to-end ownership of the modernization of a medical-grade EHR system for radiology. In this role, you will sit at the heart of our engineering teams, planning, specifying and prioritizing both at strategic and operational levels and ensure that complex clinical, regulatory, and technical requirements are translated into high-quality, scalable software.
Your work will directly impact how radiologists, medical staff, and healthcare organizations work every day - with the clear goal of improving efficiency, reducing errors, and enabling better clinical outcomes.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being deep in the details, understands software systems and interfaces and thrives in turning complex healthcare workflows into robust, usable products.
What we are currently working on
Carealytix is building the next generation of digital health platforms for chronic care and clinical workflows. One of our current major partnership projects in which we are acting as a service provider to another healthtech player is the technical modernization of an existing EHR system for radiology, including:
Redesigning application workflows into modern, user-centric software
Refactoring and extending existing systems
Integrating with hospital IT landscapes (HIS / RIS / PACS)
Ensuring compliance with ISO-27001, and GDPR
Creating a future-proof architecture for scalability and interoperability
Our product landscape ranges from mobile applications to complex backend systems, EHR integrations, and research-driven clinical software.
Your role at Carealytix
As Technical Product Owner, you will take ownership of one or more software components for our partner's radiology EHR platform and act as the primary interface between engineering, product management, clinical stakeholders and design.
You are responsible for ensuring that what we build is, Own the product backlog for your domain and ensure it is clear, prioritized, and ready for engineering
Translate clinical, operational, and regulatory requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and refinement-ready requirements
Work closely with software engineers across squads on implementation details, trade-offs, and feasibility
Support sprint planning, reviews, refinements, and releases
- EHR & System Modernization
Drive the modernization of the market leading radiology EHR system by ensuring work is scoped into shippable increments
Coordinate with Architecture and Engineering on feasibility, sequencing, and technical constraints (APIs, data flows, interoperability concepts)
Balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability
- Stakeholder & Interface Management
Act as the key interface, aligning Product Management, UX, Architecture and internal clinical stakeholders
Ensure solutions reflect real workflows and constraints
Drive day-to-day product decisions to avoid bottlenecks and keep delivery moving
- Quality, Compliance & Release Readiness
Ensure product requirements and implementations align with:
ISO-27001 information security requirements
EU-MDR and GDPR obligations
Support documentation, traceability, and validation activities required for medical-grade software
Collaborate with QA and engineering on testing strategies and release readiness
Requirements
Do you have experience in Test automation?, Full professional proficiency in English and German
Living in Germany, strong preference for in or around Karlsruhe
5-10 years of experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or similar role in software development
Strong experience working closely with engineering teams in agile environments
Solid background in:
Requirements engineering
Backlog management
Translating complex domain knowledge into software requirements
Analytical, structured, and systems-oriented mindset, Experience with healthcare IT, EHR systems, or medical software
Familiarity with ISO-13485 / ISO-27001 driven development processes
Understanding of:
APIs and service-oriented architectures
Cloud infrastructure and containerized environments
Automated testing and CI/CD concepts
Experience working with clinical users (e.g., radiology, hospitals)
Release management experience
