Job description

  1. Sensor research and development

· Scientific exploration of electrical and optical transduction mechanisms for biosensors, with the focus on signal extraction and processing.

· Design, fabrication and testing of laboratory and prototype electronic interfaces to biosensors.

  1. Prototyping for system trials

· Designing and building laboratory scale sensor validation systems.

· Designing and sourcing components and systems for initial trials of sensors with human subjects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced, multi-skilled, senior research engineer to work in the small team of scientists and engineers developing our breathalyser for narcotics technology. The ideal candidate will have experience in innovative industrial research, leading to product development, particularly in the development of highly sensitive (bio)sensors using electronic and/or optical means.

Experience of designing and implementing laboratory experiments and field trials will be essential.

You will be joining a small multi-disciplined team of bio-chemists, engineers and scientists, tackling an important but highly challenging problem with a significant commercial potential in the UK, US and globally.

NB we are not currently able to sponsor Skilled Worker Visas., · Degree in electronic, electro-optics or optical engineering or similar scientific discipline

· A background in industrial R&D.

· Deep and solid skills in analogue electronics design, particularly with sensors and sensor interfaces

· Solid practical electronics design and prototype fabrication skills

· Good understanding of optical systems with some optical design skills

· Programming skills (ideally in LabView or Python)

· Excellent data analysis and signal processing skills

· Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently in a team-based environment

· Experience of product development and pre-production roll out
