Job description
- Administration & Optimization: Manage and tune SQL Server environments across multiple clients to ensure peak performance.
- Strategic Guidance: Act as a technical lead, translating complex database needs into clear business value for client teams.
- Security & Compliance: Proactively monitor environments, troubleshoot critical issues, and implement industry-leading security best practices.
- Lifecycle Management: Lead installations, upgrades, and after-hours maintenance deployments.
- High Availability: Design and maintain robust HA solutions, including Availability Groups, Clustering, and Log Shipping.
- Collaboration: Mentor junior colleagues, contribute to our internal knowledge base, and foster an inclusive, supportive team culture.
- Support: Participate in a shared 24/7 on-call rota to ensure mission-critical stability for our clients.
Requirements
We are seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to join the remote-first team. This isn't just a maintenance role; you'll be solving complex challenges, leading technical discussions, and delivering excellence across a diverse range of client environments. Whether you are a seasoned expert or a high-level mid-career professional, this role offers the autonomy to make a real impact., * Deep Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in SQL Server infrastructure, backup/recovery models, and advanced performance tuning.
- Scripting Savvy: High proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell to drive automation and efficiency.
- HA/DR Mastery: Proven experience with Always On Availability Groups, Mirroring, and Clustering.
- Cloud Fluency: Familiarity with Azure or AWS, specifically regarding migration strategies and cloud-native database management.
- Communication Skills: The ability to explain technical "why" to non-technical stakeholders clearly and confidently.
- Bonus Points: Proficiency in PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL; relevant Microsoft or Oracle certifications.
