Job description

It would suit a Systems Engineer with around five years' experience looking to step up, or a more experienced Systems Engineer ready to take technical ownership of larger work packages. The Systems Engineer will sit at the heart of project delivery, acting as the bridge between customer requirements and internal engineering teams. As a Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Be comfortable in/lead various sized projects
  • Plan and coordinate engineering activities across multiple functions
  • Act as the technical interface with customers, translating requirements into deliverable solutions
  • Manage requirements, validation, system design, development, integration, verification and qualification
  • Lead and present design reviews and support gated lifecycle processes
  • Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities
  • Ensure configuration control, change management and full traceability of design decisions
  • Support and guide junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the team
  • Work closely with engineering leadership and programme teams to ensure projects are properly resourced

Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, HNC or apprenticeship with strong experience also considered
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in an engineering environment
  • Experience across mechanical, electromechanical, fluid, structural or broader systems development
  • Strong understanding of engineering lifecycles within a regulated or safety critical sector
  • Confidence in technical report writing and presenting at design reviews
  • Clear communication skills, both customer facing and internally
  • A proactive, solutions focused mindset
  • Previous experience contributing to schedules and working alongside project management
