Job description
As a Data Platform Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining robust, secure, and scalable data pipelines using Apache NiFi and related technologies.
- Troubleshooting, optimising, and maintaining NiFi flows - addressing performance, error handling, and throughput challenges.
- Integrating NiFi with cloud platforms, SQL/NoSQL databases, APIs, and third-party systems.
- Ensuring data infrastructure adheres to strict security and compliance standards.
- Supporting data migrations and implementing disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitoring data infrastructure performance and recommending continual improvements.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business and regulatory needs.
- Producing documentation to ensure operational transparency and knowledge sharing.
You'll also uphold high standards of safety and environmental responsibility in line with company policy, promoting a culture of care and compliance in everything you do.
Requirements
What We're Looking For We're seeking a professional with a passion for data engineering and a proven ability to work in regulated or high-security environments.
Essential Experience & Knowledge:
- 3+ years' experience in data or platform engineering, or a related technical field.
- Expertise in Apache NiFi, including FlowFiles, Processors, Controller Services, and scheduling.
- Proven ability to design and optimise batch, real-time, and event-driven data flows.
- Experience integrating diverse data sources and systems (databases, APIs, cloud services).
- Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and governance principles.
- Proficiency in Java and SQL; familiarity with C#, Scala, or scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux (RHEL), and virtualisation tools (VMware, Citrix).
