Cancer Research UK has an ambitious Engineering Strategy and modern Tech Stack with a complex hybrid (on-premise & multi-cloud) infrastructure underpinning an extensive technical estate. Our Microsoft 365 stack is a core strategic platform that enables better communication and collaboration across the organisation in an increasingly hybrid environment. As part of our Sustain strategy, we aim to maximise our investment and use of SharePoint by ensuring that our employees have access to and training in the very best tools and services the platform has to offer.
As a SharePoint Engineer, you will be part of our highly skilled, cross-disciplined, and diverse Platform Engineering team which supports the charity's product development whilst establishing an agile, secure, and smooth-running digital workplace across 4,000+ end-users. The purpose of your role will be to be the subject matter expert managing the day-to-day operation of our SharePoint infrastructure. This will include preparing and planning for new or revised services; maintaining regulatory, legal, and professional standards; monitoring services and business performance, and championing best practices and technical skills across the organisation. Furthermore, you will gain the opportunity to broaden your technical skills by supporting the team on Power Platform & App projects whilst supporting each other and cross-skilling where possible.
If you are an experienced Engineer who has delivered SharePoint Online Administration from top-to-bottom (including Intranets and Microsoft 365 technologies such as Teams and OneDrive) with strong end-user management skills, we would love for you to join our mission.
What will I be doing?
- Managing the day-to-day operation of Cancer Research UK's SharePoint infrastructure to meet the needs of the business (this includes Intranet and Microsoft 365 technologies such as Teams and OneDrive).
- Administering, supporting, and configuring the charity's SharePoint Online environment.
- Preparing and planning for new or revised SharePoint services.
- Monitoring SharePoint systems ensuring critical services continue to operate at expected levels and are appropriately scaled to meet demand.
- Championing and strengthening SharePoint IT best practices and knowledge across the organisation by creating and maintaining a culture of sharing and developing new technical skills. This includes:
- Handling SharePoint queries from across the organisation (technical teams and end users).
- Providing technical expertise to senior leaders to inform our strategic approach to SharePoint.
- Producing and maintaining high-quality documentation such as design documents in collaboration with Architecture, process guides, project documents, and articles.
- Collaborating and building relationships with other technology teams and stakeholders using SharePoint throughout the charity (e.g., Internal Communications, Senior Leadership).
- Supporting the Lead Infrastructure Engineer with Power Platform and App projects.
- Developing and administering automated business processes using Power Platform technologies.
- Delivering file migrations into SharePoint Online.
- Keeping abreast of emerging technologies and approaches to enhance the department and deliver value.
Requirements
Do you have experience in SharePoint?, * Experienced Engineer who has delivered full SharePoint Online Administration (including Intranets and Microsoft 365 technologies such as Teams and OneDrive).
- Strong end-user management skills with the ability to build relationships and deliver training across the organisation.
- Knowledge of using Microsoft Azure (including Azure AD and external user management).
- Continuous improvement mindset with experience using PowerShell to automate SharePoint tasks.
- Has some knowledge of Power Apps & Power Automate.
- Document Lifecycle Management experience (including both creating and maintaining documentation).
- Ideally, has some knowledge of Purview with an understanding of data governance standards.
- This is desirable, but not essential, meaning we welcome applicants without Purview experience.
