Job description

It's an exciting time to join the Technology team here at AXA Health, with significant investment planned in all UK&I businesses to transform, deliver new digital services to our customers, streamline, and automate our business processes, whilst ensuring the continued stability and performance of our legacy platforms. We're looking for an experienced Product Engineer to join our Engineering team, to help delivery of our digital roadmap, develop our people and capabilities, and support Engineering strategy to drive improvements across all teams.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a product-led operating model, where all our teams are value stream aligned with all the different resource types needed to get from idea to done with minimal hand-offs. We are focussed on building out our Single Digital Platform, centred around Salesforce, but involving a significant .NET estate, use of Azure services and React frontend web applications.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. We're also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working in an agile delivery team to deliver secure and quality solutions to customers
  • Ensuring continual shift of secure, quality and tested code activity left
  • Championing automation in the CI/CD DevOps cycle
  • Contributing to team ceremonies and planning sessions
  • Collaborating across development and testing reducing hand over times and focusing on and supporting the definition of done and the software development lifecycle
  • Pairing or mobbing with the engineering team
  • Driving continual improvement, identifying areas of inefficiency and demonstrating or facilitating change
  • Supporting delivery objectives, life cycle management and technical debt

Requirements

Do you have experience in Unit testing?, * Proven experience developing modern React applications using TypeScript, React Hooks, and functional components

  • Strong knowledge of state management patterns using Redux Toolkit and Redux Observable for complex asynchronous workflows
  • Proficiency with modern frontend tooling including Vite, ESLint, and module federation for micro-frontend architectures
  • Experience building accessible and responsive user interfaces with Material-UI (MUI), styled-components, and emotion
  • Solid understanding of testing practices including unit testing with Vitest, React Testing Library, and achieving meaningful code coverage
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, particularly Azure DevOps, automated builds, and deployment workflows
  • Experience with Git workflows, branching strategies, and collaborative development practices
  • Strong API integration skills using Axios and RESTful services
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Application Insights
  • Ability to work with design systems and maintain consistent UI/UX across applications

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
