Job description

Fuel Recruitment is supporting a specialist organisation operating within National Security & Defence, who are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join their growing team. This role sits within an experienced infrastructure function responsible for secure, high-performance environments across multiple classifications. You'll work on modern virtualised, cloud and on-premises systems, contributing to "Secure by Design" principles and supporting both internal environments and customer-focused projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to expand their technical expertise while working on impactful, complex projects., + Maintain, improve and secure multi-classification virtualised collaboration and development environments.

  • Support the enhancement of "Secure by Design" practices across internal systems and project deliveries.
  • Provide infrastructure support across public cloud services (Microsoft 365/Azure) and hybrid environments throughout implementation and support lifecycles.
  • Manage infrastructure maintenance through change control processes.
  • Monitor and triage alerts across ticketing and security systems, performing appropriate actions.
  • Ensure all platforms are patched in line with provider recommendations and internal security policy.
  • Rapidly assess and respond to incidents, ensuring service restoration and completion of follow-up actions.
  • Identify recurring issues and propose improvements to boost stability and performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of secure cloud, network and virtualisation technologies.
  • Share expertise through documentation, knowledge articles and team collaboration.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Windows Server 2016+ administration

  • VMware vSphere / vCenter / VCF

  • Azure and Microsoft 365 administration

  • Linux (CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu)

  • PowerShell scripting

  • End-User Device provisioning (Autopilot), maintenance, patching and hardening

  • Understanding of SSO concepts and operations

  • Experience working in protectively marked environments Desirable:

  • Kubernetes administration (e.g., VMware TKGI)

  • DevSecOps tooling (Elastic, Nessus, etc.)

  • Application packaging

  • HashiCorp Terraform

  • HashiCorp Vault

  • Experience working within Agile sprint environments
