Job description

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the creation, development, and refinement of CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation. You will play a key role in ensuring designs are accurate, manufacturable, and aligned with project specifications., * Produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.

  • Design components and assemblies for heavy engineering, sheet metal, and fabricated structures.
  • Create, maintain, and manage accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Control drawing revisions, version management, and engineering change documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and compliant with specifications.
  • Review and verify engineering drawings and associated documentation to maintain high standards of accuracy and quality.
  • Support continuous improvement and product optimisation initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across all levels in a professional, organised, and proactive manner.

Requirements

Do you have experience in SolidWorks?, You are a detail-oriented and methodical engineer with strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. You can manage multiple design projects simultaneously and perform effectively under tight deadlines without compromising accuracy or standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Experience working within an ISO9001 Design and Development process.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, including 3D modelling, assemblies, and technical drawings.
  • Proven experience in heavy engineering, sheet metal, or fabrication design.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
  • Experience producing and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Excellent attention to detail with a meticulous approach to drawings and documentation.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills., * Design within manufacturing: 3 years (preferred)
  • 3D Cad: 3 years (preferred)
  • SolidWorks: 3 years (preferred)
