Job description
The Data Analyst for the 4th Generation University initiative plays a vital role in supporting universities' transition toward mission-driven innovation ecosystems. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, you will leverage data science skills and analytical expertise to develop consultative products and services that inform institutional decision-making while supporting the team's growth objectives., In your role as a data analyst, your work will be acting as a research analytics expert and developing materials for clients that meet their research analytics, strategy and evaluation needs. You will primarily focus on delivering insights within Elsevier's 4th Generation University initiative, which focuses on supporting universities move toward mission-driven ecosystems with societal impact.
- Your main tasks will be to lead the design, execution and validation of key products through:
- Analyzing data (e.g., quantitative data, survey data) through various analysis methods (e.g., statistical, qualitative)
- Producing/developing meaningful visualizations
- Providing and writing narratives and actionable insights based on findings
- Supporting the development of scalable methods for generating analyses and insights
- Managing client relationships and communications
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product, Technology, Research Networks, and Marketing
Additionally, you may be asked to do some or all of the following:
- Supporting the development of new indicators for research evaluation and strategic planning
- Assisting in the creation of semi-automated reports
Requirements
Are you passionate about transforming data into actionable insights that shape strategic initiatives?
Do you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your analysis can directly influence university strategy?, * Hold a higher education degree, preferably in quantitative social sciences, research methods, or related fields; Master's or PhD preferred.
- Are curious, innovative, and eager to explore new research avenues in bibliometrics, research evaluation, and STI policy.
- Possess strong, rigorous analytical skills, with keen attention to detail and a holistic view of data.
- Have experience deriving actionable insights and creating relevant visualizations.
- Are proficient in manipulating and analyzing quantitative data from diverse sources.
- Are experienced in computing and interpreting descriptive, univariate, and multivariate statistics.
- Care about the responsible use of metrics in research and evaluation.
- Have a solid understanding of research and evaluation theory and study design.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Are skilled in coding languages such as SQL, Python, or similar.
- Background in higher education policy and management is a plus.
