Job description

Looking for a role where you're more than just a number? We're a small, fast-growing company delivering high-quality high voltage infrastructure projects across the UK and we're looking for a qualified Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join our tight-knit, high-performing team., As a Senior Authorised Person, you will be responsible for the safety, control, and execution of works on high and low voltage systems ranging from LV to 400kV. This role is critical to our safe delivery of projects including private networks, grid connections, renewables, and utility-scale electrical installations., * Acting as SAP on high voltage networks (up to 400kV)

  • Issuing and receiving safety documents (Permits to Work, Sanction-for-Test, etc.)
  • Overseeing and authorising switching operations
  • Ensuring compliance with industry regulations, network safety rules, and internal procedures
  • Leading commissioning, testing, and energisation procedures
  • Providing technical leadership to commissioning engineers and site staff

Requirements

Do you have a valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card, Construction Skills Certification Scheme certification?, Do you have experience in Computer networking?, * Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation up to 11kV-400kV (DNO, IDNO, or private network experience)

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Relevant Training Records
  • National Grid Person/BESC (or willing to obtain)
  • G99/G59 commissioning experience (desirable)
  • ECS/CSCS/CCNSG/EUSR Card
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671 - desirable)
  • First Aid at Work, Manual Handling, and Site Safety Awareness (valid or willing to renew)

Required Experience & Expertise:

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant HV experience, with 2+ years as a SAP
  • Experience working on DNO, ICP, IDNO, or private networks
  • Confident with switching operations, control diagrams, and substation commissioning
  • Familiar with protection relays, primary/secondary injection testing, and fault finding
  • Able to lead teams, manage risk, and communicate clearly with stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations, ENA technical standards, and site safety
