Job description

  • Collaborate with technical architects to turn data architecture designs into operational services.

  • Build, manage and support data platforms, pipelines, and cloud environments.

  • Lead infrastructure and data engineering teams to deliver stable services.

  • Oversee operational support for enterprise data platforms.

  • Manage third party providers delivering data infrastructure services.

  • Ensure secure configurations and security controls across data systems.

  • Maintain reusable infrastructure templates for data environments.

  • Lead systems integration for data services across the service life cycle.

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and architectural materials.

  • Provide expertise to programmes and projects across design, build and run phases, * Provided expert leadership in designing, building, and supporting data infrastructure and operational solutions.

  • Guided teams, enforce engineering and integration standards, and manage third-party providers throughout projects.

  • Implemented complex data flows, automation, and security controls within cloud infrastructure and data platforms.

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues, improve reliability, and oversee testing for data services., In this role, you will provide strategic technical leadership for enterprise data capabilities at MHCLG, ensuring the secure and scalable implementation of data solutions. You will play a critical part in supporting MHCLG's Data and AI Strategies by overseeing operational support functions and cultivating a high-performing IT operations team. You will support and manage third-party services, guide teams throughout the entire service product lifecycle, and translate architectural designs into functional operational data environments. Additionally, you will build secure, scalable data services that align with and advance departmental priorities.

Requirements

  • Apply knowledge of data mesh, FAIR principles, cross-government data sharing, and cloud-native tools.

  • Experience managing IT operations teams, including workload and performance oversight.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, data operations, and end-to-end architectural solutions.

  • Proficiency with reusable infrastructure templates and serverless platforms.

  • Expertise in infrastructure engineering, automation, and cloud-native tools (PowerBI, Purview, Databricks, MS Fabric).
