We're building Selvia, an AI-powered EdTech platform revolutionizing how people prepare for official exams - and we're looking for a Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead Product and Tech from day one.
Selvia combines educational science, data, and adaptive learning to create hyper-personalized study experiences. By understanding each student's personality, learning style, and lifestyle, it builds customized study plans, simulations, and resources that maximize the return on study time - much like having a private tutor for everyone.
We're starting with a massive challenge - competitive exam preparation - but our long-term vision is to become the lifelong learning companion for millions, supporting both personal and professional growth. We already have a live MVP with paying customers, validating our hypothesis and giving very positive signs of early traction.
You'll join Anna Vique, Selvia's CEO and co-founder, who brings over a decade of strategic and leadership experience as CRO at CTAIMA (where she led international expansion into 3 LatAm markets in under a year) and as Senior Manager at Accenture Strategy.
This is a unique opportunity to co-build a company from the ground up, backed by Antai's resources, expertise, and operational network.
- Collaborate with the co-founders and executive team to define the product's technical vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
- Build and lead a world-class engineering team across backend, frontend, and data-fostering a cloud-native, continuous delivery mindset and ensuring professional growth.
- Architect a scalable, resilient, and secure technology platform with freedom to choose between monolith, microservices, serverless, and other modern patterns.
- Select the right technology stack for both backend and frontend applications, optimizing for speed, reliability, and scalability.
- Lead development with strong knowledge of software design principles, particularly Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and SOLID principles.
- Oversee the design and deployment of a robust data processing pipeline, managing ingestion, transformation, and storage for high-volume use cases.
- Champion engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and agile methodologies across the product lifecycle.
- Act as a tech-business bridge, communicating complex ideas clearly to non-technical stakeholders and collaborating closely with the CEO and executive team.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, ownership, and proactive problem-solving across the tech team.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, ideally in backend technologies (Java/Spring or PHP/Symfony preferred).
- Proven leadership experience as a Tech Lead or CTO in a startup or fast-growing digital company.
- Strong grasp of Cloud Native environments: Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, service mesh, infrastructure-as-code.
- Expertise in designing and scaling data architectures, including pipelines for stream/batch processing and data warehousing.
- Deep understanding of software architecture, testing, design patterns, and team workflows in agile development environments.
- Track record of hiring, mentoring, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on, get-it-done approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills-able to translate tech into business.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Bonus: Experience in EdTech or similar consumer products and building AI-first digital products.
