Job description

We're seeking a technically-minded UI/UX Designer to join our team, focusing on the implementation and technical execution of digital front-end solutions. This role emphasises translating design concepts into production-ready specifications, working closely with development teams, and ensuring pixel-perfect implementation of user interfaces.

Unlike traditional product design roles, this position prioritises technical precision, design system adherence, and developer handoff quality over conceptual creative work.

  • Build and maintain component libraries and design systems in Figma
  • Produce precise redlines, measurements, and technical annotations for front-end implementation
  • Define interaction states, responsive breakpoints, and technical behaviours for UI components
  • Ensure consistency and technical accuracy across all digital touch points

Design System Management

  • Maintain and evolve existing design systems with focus on scalability and developer efficiency
  • Document component usage, variants, and technical specifications
  • Create and maintain style guides covering typography, colour systems, spacing, and grid structures
  • Audit existing interfaces for design system compliance and consistency

Developer Collaboration

  • Work closely with front-end developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs
  • Conduct QA reviews of implemented designs and provide technical feedback
  • Bridge communication between design and development teams
  • Create clear handoff documentation using Figma's dev mode and inspection tools

Asset Production & Optimisation

  • Prepare and optimise design assets for various platforms and screen densities
  • Export production-ready assets in appropriate formats (SVG, PNG, etc.)
  • Create icon sets and graphical elements using Adobe Illustrator
  • Ensure all assets meet technical requirements for performance and accessibility

UX Testing & Implementation Research

  • Plan, create, and conduct usability testing sessions to validate design implementations
  • Develop testing protocols and scenarios for evaluating implemented features
  • Analyse testing data and user feedback to identify implementation issues
  • Create comprehensive testing reports with actionable recommendations for improvements
  • Conduct post-implementation research to measure design effectiveness and user satisfaction
  • Document findings and iterate on designs based on real-world usage data

Requirements

Do you have experience in Zeplin?, * 3+ years of UI/UX design experience with strong focus on technical implementation

  • Expert proficiency in Figma, including auto-layout, components, and variables
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • Deep understanding of responsive design principles and grid systems
  • Solid grasp of HTML/CSS capabilities and constraints (coding ability not required)\
  • Experience creating and maintaining design systems at scale
  • Ability to conduct user research, analyse data, and translate findings into design solutions
  • Proven ability to plan and conduct usability testing and create actionable testing reports
  • Experience with implementation research and post-launch validation methods
  • Meticulous attention to detail and pixel-perfect execution
  • Strong documentation and specification skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with developers and other team members

Desirable

  • Experience with design tokens and design-to-code workflows
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React, Vue, etc.) and their component structures
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • Experience with prototyping tools and interactive design
