Job description

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design and deliver scalable, secure and high-performance cloud-native backend solutions within Azure. This role requires strong architectural thinking, API design expertise and experience operating production-grade cloud environments. What You'll Do Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using C#, .NET and Azure. Build and manage RESTful APIs to support SaaS and middleware integrations. Develop APIs deployed via Azure Functions and container-based workloads. Design and manage integrations using Azure AD B2C for authentication and identity flows. Implement and manage Azure Blob Storage for document and data processing pipelines. Integrate with OpenAI (ChatGPT) APIs and Azure AI services to power extraction, classification and scoring workflows. Design secure, performant AI request pipelines including structured outputs and validation layers. Develop and maintain Azure Logic Apps and supporting automation workflows where appropriate. Optimise SQL Server performance, stored procedures and database architecture. Implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (or equivalent) for automated builds and deployments. Apply infrastructure best practices around security, cost control and naming conventions. Use Postman (or equivalent tooling) for API testing, validation and documentation. Work with Git for version control and collaborative development. Ensure robust security principles across APIs, data storage and authentication mechanisms. Collaborate closely with Front-End and Product teams to deliver cohesive features. Contribute to Agile delivery processes (Scrum and/or Kanban). Participate in sprint ceremonies and iterative delivery cycles. Mentor junior developers and help raise backend engineering standards across the team.

Requirements

Essential 5+ years' experience as a Backend Developer working with Azure cloud solutions. Strong proficiency in C#, .NET and RESTful API design. Experience building APIs deployed via Azure Functions and/or containerised environments. Experience implementing authentication and identity flows using Azure AD B2C. Strong knowledge of Azure Blob Storage and document/data processing workflows. Experience integrating with OpenAI (ChatGPT) APIs or similar AI services in production environments. Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices. Strong SQL Server experience including performance optimisation. Experience with Git-based workflows. Experience using Postman or equivalent API testing tools. Security-focused mindset with strong understanding of cloud security principles. Comfortable working in Agile environments (Scrum / Kanban). Experience mentoring junior developers. Desirable Experience designing AI-driven data pipelines and structured output validation. Experience building middleware or platform-style architectures. Familiarity with Angular or modern front-end integration patterns. Azure certifications (e.g. AZ-900 or higher). Experience integrating with third-party platforms and external APIs.
