Job description
We are looking for an experienced Mid-Weight UX Designer to join our cross-functional team for a fixed term period to help supercharge our design output during a key time in our business transformation. Your mission is to transform complex user problems and data-informed insights into simplified, accessible, and high-performing digital products using an evidence-based, human-centric approach. We're undergoing a shift from a collection of products into a centralised eco-system suite and need your help to make this happen.
Beyond individual feature design, you will play a pivotal role in design operations (DesignOps), helping to refine our internal workflows, maintain design consistency, and champion design thinking across the organisation. You will be accountable for the entire design lifecycle - from discovery and hypothesis-driven experimentation to delivery and post-launch optimisation.
About the team: A global team split across the UK and Australia consisting of UX Designers, UX Researchers, Content Designers, a Head Of Design, and a Global Head of UX, working across multiple products to craft delightful experiences for our users in the Education Tech space. From interfaces to intuitive workflows, we're all about making our products do the best they can for our users, and having a positive impact on the education sector., Product Discovery & Design Execution
- Continuous Discovery: Drive all stages of the design process, balancing discovery (learning) with delivery (building).
- Lean Experimentation: Deconstruct large concepts into lean experiments to validate assumptions quickly and minimise development waste.
- Advanced Prototyping: Build high-fidelity, interactive prototypes (using Figma) to conduct usability testing and communicate complex interactions to engineering and key stakeholders.
Ops, Ceremonies & Functional Excellence
- Workshop Facilitation: Lead collaborative sessions (design sprints and ideation workshops) to align stakeholders and spark innovation.
- Ceremony Leadership: Support and lead design-specific ceremonies, including design critiques, peer reviews, and 'show and tells' to elevate the team's craft.
Collaboration & Data-Informed Strategy
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Work within our cross functional product teams with Product Managers and Engineers, involving developers early in the ideation phase to ensure technical feasibility.
- Mixed-Methods Research: Partner with UX Researchers to execute both generative and evaluative research, translating raw data into actionable insights and journey maps.
- Impact Measurement: Define and track UX metrics (e.g., task success rate, SUS, retention) to measure the success of launched features.
Requirements
Do you have experience in UX?, * SaaS Expertise: Proven track record of delivering complex B2B or B2C SaaS products in a fast-paced environment.
- Autonomy: Proven ability to operate as a self-directed 'owner' of your domain, proactively identifying gaps and proposing solutions without needing granular direction.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to look beyond the interface to understand business logic and long-term product strategy.
- Agile Proficiency: Experience working in high-performing teams with sprints and continuous deployment cycles.
- Evidence-Based Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating the 'why' behind the 'what', showcasing problem-solving, user testing iterations, and measurable outcomes.
- Technical Toolset: Mastery of Figma (Auto-layout, Components, Variables) and familiarity with modern research methods.
- Systems Thinking: An understanding of how small design changes impact the broader ecosystem and the ability to maintain consistency at scale.
- Educational Background: Degree in Product Design, HCI, Behavioural Science, or equivalent industry experience. We value diverse perspectives and non-linear career paths.
